Wonder Wraps Promotes “Scientific” Child-Rearing, Avoid Misconceptions
Behind all the joy and happiness of welcoming a new child, parents often face the unwelcome stress of juggling between new and old ideas of child-rearing. One of the most controversial topics is toilet training. Traditional parenting believes that the earlier the child can control his/her toileting the better, but recent studies show this may contradict a baby’s natural development.
Toilet Training Too Early Can Do More Harm Than Good
Wonder Wraps Children’s Care Expert claims: A newborn child, up to about 1 year of age, has no control or sensation over his/her bladder, and any excretion is purely involuntary. Past 12 months, a baby will begin to notice its bladder movements, and will show facial expressions upon excretion. In terms of frequency, within the first year a baby’s excretion frequency will drop from 20 times per day to approximately 10, and will maintain at this level until age 2. By 18 months, a baby will begin to show the ability to “hold” their excretion, and by ages 2-4 a baby’s bladder will become fully developed. Based on the above information, it is clear that attempting to potty-train a baby as early as possible, or before a baby’s bladder is fully developed, conflicts with the human body’s biological development.
Further, forcing a baby to bladder-control can result in under-development of the bladder, resulting in prolapse. Prolapse will in turn result in constipation, which in consequently may result in anal fissures. Recent studies show that Chinese babies have a higher rate of hemorrhoids, which can be linked directly to premature bladder-training. In extreme cases, bladder-training, and the energy a baby is forced to exert, may result in spinal damage.
Scientific Fact Choose Quality Diapers
Given the above, it is vital that a baby continue to use diapers until he/she is physically ready for bladder-training. On top of that, it is of vital importance to change diapers frequently to avoid diaper rash or the baby’s skin being suffocated with humidity.
